The Hanover Historical Society is sponsoring a 19th century carpentry demonstration as one of its events leading up to Hanover's 125th anniversary of incorporation. Mark Johnson will be on hand from 1-5 p.m. demonstrating basic joinery, such as mortises and tenons, match joints, and dovetails (at 2 p.m.) followed by a different demonstration at 4 p.m.
During the latter, Mr. Johnson will show how men made molding by hand for furniture and mantle pieces, which is exactly the sort of work that joiners and furniture makers did in small towns across Minnesota in the 19th century.
In between demonstrations, Mr. Johnson will work on furniture pieces and be available to answer questions and explain what he is working on.
KRWC radio from Buffalo (1360 on the AM dial) will be bringing their 'Road Show' van to the Hanover Harvest Festival. KRWC will be broadcasting live, so don't be surprised if you get 'interviewed' on the air - be sure to practice your 'on air' voice just in case!
The martial arts demonstration will feature Taekwondo and is presented by the World Taekwondo Academy
